Duffo above being carried off the ground last week following his ‘man of the match’ bowling performance. Jeff ended the day with great figures of 5 for 30 for his team Northbridge in Sydney.
I was on the verge of playing the ‘Festival of Voices’ in Hobart, Tasmania in July when I last blogged. Pleased to report that our Hobart festival shows were wonderful with hundreds of Duffo-Bowie fans goin’ off their nuts!
I have been extremely busy since I posted my last Blog, mainly performing the Bowie Unzipped show. In the last few months the show has played concerts in Brisbane, Newcastle, Central Coast Sydney and Melbourne.
My Bowie show plays Brisbane this coming weekend…we have a website specifically for the show www.bowieunzipped.com.au
Tony Bonney, who looks after Hobarts ‘Festival of Voices’ has contacted me re performing the music of Scott Walker at the festival…with a little Jacques Brel thrown in for good measure.
Below is a link to a feature article published last week in Rhythmns Magazine.
The article is in regard my musical connection with Scott Walker.
Feature duffo article from Brisbane media this week…
TO ALL DUFFO FANS…WISHING YOU ALL A COOL YULE! AND THE BEST 2015
A little catching up to do in regard my blog…
Very excited about Bowie Unzipped show which is killing it live everywhere we play. We’ve just returned from playing sell out concerts in Melbourne at the Caravan Club. This really is one of the finest live venues in Australia…amazing audience, great sound and if you manage to fill the venue…the audience go nuts.
Melbourne loves Bowie and Melbourne went crazy for our show. Hopefully we’ll be back to perform for the ‘BOWIE IS’ exhibition in July.
The Bowie Unzipped show has also been filling venues in Sydney and around NSW. We have many more of these shows lined up for 2015… The Bowie band is the hippest, most dangerous band in Australia, Jak Housden guitars,/ Glenn Rhodes, keys, bass, / Jess Ciampa drums, bass. Oh,yeah, and Im the dumb blonde singer out front. Everyone in the band sings beautifully so we’re blessed with great harmonies. Compact and cool…
I played Manly Jazz Festival which was very cool….I joined friends of mine in a band led by bass player Steve Morrison, who also happens to be my cricket captain at Northbridge Cricket Club. I’ve surprised myself with my bowling in the team…For a while there I’ve somehow managed to have the bowling average in the team. I think more from bad batting rather than my good bowling, but I’ll take it anyway!
I launched my new album ‘walking on eggshells’ in november. The album contains new songs written by Steve Bull & myself and was produced by Steve. Steve and fellow Icehouse band mate Paul Wheeler play on the album. We also shot a very groovy video for the title track,
Late November I played my first Mullumbimby Festival, wow, what a cool festival, hopefully I’ll return next year for more.
Early in December, I played the annual Rock Opera’s concert at the State Theatre in Sydney. I sang a song from Rocky Horror and also Copacabana dressed as a showgirl
Well it’s Christmas eve and I still have a few Bowie concerts to squeeze in before the end of the year.
Happy Daze! xxxx
